The Almac Cold Store project is a new pharmaceutical facility for the Almac Group, an established contract development and manufacturing organisation that provides an extensive range of integrated services globally to companies within the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors. They occupy a large pharmaceuticals site in Craigavon, on which the project is located. The growing market and pressure on existing facilities necessitated the expansion of the client’s cold storage and distribution facilities which the new project accommodates for.
The project involves considerable structural requirements to facilitate a large, uninterrupted cold store area and extensive servicing requirements which has necessitated a high level of co-ordination between all members of the design team, equipment manufacturers, and client and site contractors. The project has been carried out through the implementation of a LOD3 Revit model to assist in this design co-ordination process with the M+E and C+S Consultant Engineers and to ensure the project is delivered to meet the client’s requirements.
