This 88,000sqft project is a state of the art research facility for Almac Sciences which also includes HQ administrative offices for the Almac Group. The restricted nature of the 2 acre site resulted in a 5 storey building form which reduces the building footprint and leaves the maximum area for parking and servicing. The five storey structure accommodates modular R+D and analytical labs on the upper floors and a range of specialist laboratories on the ground floor including GMP, NMR, Scale-up and Hydrogenation each of which has specialist equipment incorporated into the highly serviced spaces.
Write up space is separated from the labs by means of frameless glazed screens to maximise visibility across the labs and allow individual control the environment in each area. The office space is accommodated in a separate wing on 2 floors positioned over the staff restaurant. Offices are laid out as a mixture of open planning with glazed cellular offices and meeting rooms. The main meeting area within the site is the new staff restaurant which sits 240 people.
