Brandywell Stadium in Londonderry is home to Derry City Football Club and the Derry Dog Racing Company. In 2010 Ostick + Williams was appointed by the owners, Derry City Council to carry out an extensive redevelopment of the facilities in the stadium to bring them up to modern safety standards and provide options for compliance with UEFA Category 2 and 3 standards to permit European Cup games to be played at the ground.
The football club facilities include a new 2,600 seat stand to bring the seated capacity up to 5,100, new club player facilities, hospitality space, media facilities and spectator concessions. The facilities to be provided for Greyhound racing include a specialist sand track, kennels and photo-finish.
The design has been devised to improve spectator access and egress from the ground, allow for segregation of spectators to facilitate crowd control and the flexibility to stage concerts and other events within the stadium.
The proposals are at design stage and it is hoped that works will commence on site in 2011. The contract value is £5m.
