For years this Retail Development which is only a 10 minutes walk from the commercial heart of Belfast struggled to attract both customers and tenants. Purchased by Corbo Ltd, Ostick + Williams were appointed to oversee a comprehensive redevelopment of the former Yorkgate complex. The works have been undertaken in 3 distinct phases to date:
Phase 1 - Retail Unit refurbishment.
Phase 2 - New Mall
Phase 3 - New Retail Units
Works are ongoing and future proposals include the construction of a new foodcourt and leisure facilities.
Completion of Phase 1 saw Asda Living open their first store in Northern Ireland. Phase 2 has created a modern glazed mall and subdivided a large superstore into 6 new retail units accessed from the mall. Completion of Phase 3 saw the construction of 4 purpose built retail units. During all phases of the work, the centre continued to trade with customers being afforded full access throughout. The use of contemporary materials has elevated the centres’ status considerably, making it a unique retail destination in the heart of Belfast City.
