Ostick + Williams was commissioned to design and detail a new office fitout for the corporate headquarters of General Electric in Romania for a number of their business companies including GE Healthcare SRL, GE Energy SRL, GE Security SRL and GE GBS SRL.
General Electric selected a shell office suite on the 7th floor of a new office building located on Cala Floresca called Floreasca Business Centre which was developed by the Portland Trust.
Ostick+Williams produced two initial concept designs for the proposed offices, one “classic modern” using a harmonious combination of mellow tones and natural materials, and one “avante garde modern” using more vibrant colours contrasting with natural materials. All GE departments chose the “avant garde” proposal as each considered that this expression best matched their culture of leading edge technology and environmental awareness.
To overcome the relatively deep office floor plan much use was made of fully glazed partitions to ensure a maximum penetration of natural light. Vibrant panels of blue and green colour applied to the glazed screens double as safety manifestation.
Ostick+Williams commission also included the design and negotiation of the fire strategy to compliment that already developed for the shell building.
